During the Easter holidays Club Doncaster Foundation coaches were busy out in the community delivering the new and improved Doncaster Rovers Football Camps.
The new initiative includes hosting the camp at local football clubs to make them more accessible for the local players whilst aiming to attract new players to the junior section.
Over 70 young players were put through their paces on the 2 day camp and were coached the fundamentals of football including a mini football tournament at the end of each day to use the new skills they had been taught.
The two clubs that took advantage of the camps were Rossington Main and Sandall Park. Commenting on the camp, Carl Stokes, Rossington Main stated: ‘"As a club we are delighted to host Club Doncaster. The kids are really enjoying the sessions and hopefully we will see them using what they have learnt when they come to play for us in games."
Camp attendee Ben Liversidge added ‘"I am happy that Club Doncaster have come to Rossington because sometimes I can't get all over Doncaster to different sessions. Also it means that lots of my friends can come from where I live."
"I have enjoyed taking part in the skills sessions. Most of all I enjoyed the shooting game because I got to score goals!"
Along with providing holiday activity for the children Club Doncaster Foundation are donating £5 per child back to the junior section at each of the amateur clubs.
Details of the Summer programme will be announced shortly.
