PD: Pre-season "fantastic"

1 August 2015

Gaffer calling for even more from his players and talks new signing N'Guessan.

Paul Dickov is hoping to round off what he described as a “fantastic” pre season with victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers today at Keepmoat Stadium.

Championship Wolves complete a busy pre-season schedule which has included Championship and Premier League opposition and seen Doncaster go undefeated.

“We want a few of the injured lads back and get some minutes in them.

“We’ve had back to back clean sheets at home and want to make it three in a row. Without the ball we’ve been superb so we need to keep that level of performance there. We’ll be looking for – against another top team – to be better on the ball.

“We’ve shown flashes of what we can do but not enough for my liking. I want to set the players tests all the time and we’ve got many targets while not getting carried away with ourselves.”

Dickov was speaking in the aftermath of acquiring exciting forward Dany N’Guessan, who the Scot said will add plenty of options to the Rovers ranks.

“He’s a player I know really well as a person and a character and as a player and I think the best is still to come,” he said.

“The coaching staff we’ve got and the facilities we can offer, I think we can bring the best out of him.

“He’s 27 and can play through the middle, off the front man or on either flank. He’s very powerful and when he gets in and around the box, he’s got a terrific shot on him with both feet and we feel he’ll compliment what we’ve already got.

“He’s completely different to what we’ve got and that’s what we needed. He gives us a different outlet and the team a bit more pace because we can over rely on Nathan Tyson.”

Rovers kick off their League 1 campaign when they take on Bury at home on Saturday 8th August, tickets for which are available HERE or via 01302 762576.
