Doncaster Rovers welcome Championship leaders Ipswich Town to South Yorkshire on Tuesday evening, looking to kickstart their 2015/16 season.Rovers have previous against the Tractor Boys having dumped them out at exactly the same stage of this competition 11 years ago with a 2-0 win courtesy of goals Ricky Ravenhill and Jermaine McSporran.
Paul Dickov will be looking to rekindle some of the Belle Vue spirit against a Mick McCarthy side that is flying high in the second tier following last season’s play-off semi final heartache at the hands of near neighbours Norwich City.
While McCarthy’s side – who overcame Stevenage at Portman Road in the previous round – recorded their third straight win against Preston North End, the resilience of Dickov’s men was breached as they were handed their first defeat of the season on Saturday in a less than flattering 3-0 loss at the hands of Port Vale.
Doncaster are a different proposition on their own patch though as the attackers of Bury, Leeds United and Southend United will testify – with the Keepmoat Stadium only seeing one ‘legitimate’ opposition goal being scored this term.
Rovers overcame Leeds United in the previous round having won 4-2 on penalties against their Yorkshire rivals, thus inflicting the first ever first round exit upon Uwe Rosler’s side.
TEAM NEWS: Harry Forrester and Nathan Tyson will both miss out through injury. The game will come too soon for both Paul Keegan and Dany N’Guessan.
