Record number of Students graduate

14 August 2015

Foundation Friday focusses on those moving onwards and upwards.

The Club Doncaster Foundation students who have completed studying the various full-time sports courses with the Education Foundation were this week rewarded with a graduation ceremony at the Keepmoat Stadium.

A record number of students completed and graduated from the scheme, as the Foundation continues to go from strength to strength since its launch in 2008.

All students who completed their studies with the Foundation were awarded their certificates before a graduation party followed.

The Foundation offers unique Education courses for young people post 16 to be part of, where students not only get the opportunity to study, but also be a part of the Doncaster Rovers and the Doncaster RLFC Academies.

Principal Jenna Scully said: “We are delighted that we have again broken all previous records for students completing their studies with us.

“The Club Doncaster Foundation is firmly on the map now and one of the best places for young people to study sport in the region.

“Not only do our students get a pathway to university and employment, they also get to represent both Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Rugby League and we are overwhelmed at how well they are doing this.
“I’d like to wish all graduates the best of luck in the future and we look forward to welcoming our new students in September.”

Graduate Cobham Walker added: “I can’t believe my two years of college at Club Doncaster are finished.

“It has definitely been the best two years of my life studying and playing football home, away and abroad with some top people!

“I can't thank the Foundation enough for how much they've helped me, along with giving  me some amazing experiences like going to the Philippines.

“I would definitely recommend Club Doncaster Foundation to anyone!”

The Club Doncaster Foundation offers full time courses at Levels 2 and 3 where students obtain valuable skills for gaining employment and up to 420 UCAS points offering a pathway to university.

In addition to the academies, students also have access to a benefits package.

This package includes; a Doncaster Rovers FC and the Doncaster Rugby League season ticket, the chance to visit France on our football tour for Summer 2016, free outward bound residential trip, specialist extra-curricular football and rugby training by ex DRFC pro's Jan Budtz and Tim Ryan, DRFC and the Dons Player visits and training sessions, opportunity to be ball boys and girls on DRFC match day’s throughout the season, the opportunity to play on the first team pitch and finally a free student hooded top and a reduced training kit package.
