Gaffer Looking Forward to Burton Challenge

18 December 2015

Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson is looking forward to the prospect of facing League One leaders Burton Albion.

Rovers travel to the table toppers this Saturday and will be backed by a large following after the initial ticket allocation for supporters sold out.

Saturday will mark Nigel Clough's first game back in charge at the Pirelli Stadium, in what will see the two form sides come head to head in the division.

"It's a good challenge at a good time for us and a game that I am looking forward too," said Ferguson.

"I think it has come just at the right time, we have picked up some good wins.

"This is a challenge against a team who are deservedly top of the league and going very well.

"It is Nigel's first home game and he is very well respected, the crowd will be up for it with Nigel going back there because he did a great job when he was there first of all.

"I will have to speak to the players to make sure we start the game well, but when a team is top of the league and flying you are going to get that anyway.

"They are a really hard working team, a really well functioned team and have a lot of energy about them and we know it will be a tough game for us.

"In some games you go in thinking we will have to be good at maybe keeping the ball, the defensive aspect, but in this game we will have to be good all around to get the win.

"The players know that, we are going to have to be really good both on and off the ball because of the way Burton play, but I fully expect that if we go there and match them and play to our capabilities we can win the game, I have no question about that."
