Williams up for award

9 December 2015

Andy Williams has been nominated for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month.

The in-form striker has helped Rovers to three wins and a draw against top of the table Coventry in the last five league games, as well as two FA Cup victories.

Scoring twice in four Sky Bet League One matches for Rovers, Williams also found the net twice in the FA Cup first round against Staybridge Celtic.

The November nominations for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month Award are:

Andy Williams (Doncaster Rovers) – striker

Relishing life under new manager Darren Ferguson, Williams ran opposing rearguards ragged, pulling defenders all over the place to open up space for others in the 2-2 draw at leaders Coventry and scoring twice in four games.

Jermaine Anderson (Peterborough United) – midfielder

The 19-year-old, who was born just a month before Euro 96, came of age with four goals in November. Encouraged to break forward at every opportunity, he has impressed with his all-round contribution to the Peterborough midfield.

Jacob Murphy (Coventry City) - striker

His progression since the start of the season has been remarkable. Given the responsibility to create as well as score, he has benefited from dropping deeper, using his pace to score five goals, including a 10-minute hat-trick against Gillingham.

Ben Williams (Bradford City) - goalkeeper

Now established as first choice, he was in dominant form with four clean sheets in five games. Commanded his area, gave confidence to the defenders in front of him and made a number of vital saves, notably in the home draw with Coventry.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
