Premier League Kicks is the Premier League’s flagship community initiative under their Creating Chances programme. It has a long history of using the power of football and the value of sports participation to help hard-to-reach youngsters in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the community turn their lives around.
By engaging youngsters in constructive activities, including a wide variety of sports, coaching, music and educational and personal development sessions, communities up and down the country have been transformed with impressive sports participation rates and the authorities reporting significant reductions in anti-social behaviour. The scheme has also enabled thousands of youngsters to find routes into education, training and employment.
The Doncaster programme is heavily supported by local funding partners including DMBC, St Leger Homes, Mayor Ros Jones, Parish & Town Councils and brings communities together through sport and activities, improving relationships with the police and rescue services throughout Doncaster to make local areas a better place.
The Club Doncaster Foundation currently run Kicks sessions in Balby, Moorends, Bentley, Dearne Valley and Edlington and you too could take part in tournaments like this one in the future and represent Doncaster Rovers. To find out about Kicks in Doncaster visit www.drfc-community.co.uk
