Manager wants to make Vale pay for early season win and strengthen grip on play offs.

Paul Dickov admitted that he is facing a selection headache prior to Saturday’s game against Port Vale.

Harry Forrester, Curtis Main and Abdul Razak could all be in line for starting places, despite Rovers recent run of three wins on the bounce.

“I’ve got to try and manage the squad as best I can,” opened Dickov.

“There’s a lot of confidence and belief in the boys that are playing at the minute and that’s shown in the results we’ve been getting.

“The patience and the professionalism that the players showed the other night is the thing that pleased me.”

The Scot has not seen his side beaten on the road since October – a 3-1 defeat against Fleetwood Town – and sees no reason his side cant avenge August’s loss to the Valiants.

“They came here earlier in the season and turned us over convincingly, so we can’t look ahead to Bristol City [on Tuesday night], we have got to keep this run going and it will be a tough game tomorrow,” he said.

“On any given day they can go and give teams a bit of a beating, they’re a little inconsistent like ourselves – although we’ve sorted that out of late – but I watched their game against Walsall, which they won and that shows what this league is about.

“It’s going to go to the [season’s] end. There’s so many clubs within close proximity in the league.”

Dickov parted by announcing that he is sitting down soon to finalise next season’s contract in a bid to “sort everything out before pre-season starts; because it will be here before we know it.”

Fans are reminded that they can pay on the gate at Vale Park tomorrow.
