PREVIEW: ROVERS v Reds

17 January 2015

Saturday 17th January 2015 (3pm), Sky Bet League One, Keepmoat Stadium.

Very little separates Doncaster and Barnsley, both geographically and in terms of their location in the League One table, heading in to this Saturday’s clash at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The hosts lie in 14th, while the visitors in 16th, ahead of the Reds sixteen mile trip across South Yorkshire.

The pair have met frequently over the last decade and met earlier this campaign, after both were relegated from the Championship last season.

Paul Dickov’s Doncaster are only two points ahead of their rivals, but similarly are within touching distance of the play-off places.

They were good value for a point in the reverse fixture when Theo Robinson slammed home a second half equaliser after Lewin Nyatanga had headed home a corner just five minutes in to the game.

The last time Barnsley visited Doncaster, the spoils were shared on that occasion also, with James Coppinger’s double salvo equalled by that of giant German striker Nick Proschwitz in front of a five figure attendance.
