With the Ashes fast approaching, Doncaster Rovers hosted its first ever cricket tournament on the Soccer Centre cages.

The event took place last week on a beautiful summer evening with teams from all over Doncaster taking part in the tournament.

This exciting form of cricket produced plenty of runs and plenty of spectacular wickets.

However, after four hours of non-stop cricket the eventual winners were Bentley Cricket Club, who produced an outstanding display to overcome Ali in the final.

Martin Brown of Bentley Colliery Cricket Club stated: “We really enjoyed the night, it was all centered around having fun and enjoyment. There was a really relaxed atmosphere throughout the night from the staff and all the teams, this meant there wasn't much pressure, especially on the younger players. We would like to thank Doncaster Rovers and would love to take part in any other cricket tournaments that the Rovers will hold.”

Thanks go to everyone involved who contributed to the event’s success, including Batting 4 6, a specialist cricket store in Retford, providing a range of cricketing essentials.

Keep your eye on the official website over the next week for some exciting news regarding Doncaster Rovers Big Bash II.
