The latest from Nottingham Forest ahead of our pre-season friendly with the Reds tonight.
Doncaster Rovers will preview each of their pre-season opponents over the coming weeks; starting with Nottingham Forest, who we face TONIGHT (7:45pm).Forest will have just returned from Scandinavia when they arrive at Keepmoat Stadium for their first real ‘competitive’ pre-season friendly having played Odense, Mjallby and Helsingor.
Dougie Freedman has been very studious in his acquisitions and added valuable Championship experience to a team which faded away from top spot in emphatic fashion last term.
Former Rovers centre back Matt Mills has joined from Bolton Wanderers while Northern Ireland international Jamie Ward has moved along the A52 to join from fierce rivals Derby County.
Doncaster born target man Darius Henderson – who scored 10 goals in 44 for Forest during the 13/14 season – has also been part of the touring party after his release from Leyton Orient.
Tyler Walker, son of former England international Des, has impressed on the tour however. Freedman told the club’s official website: “He’s a fantastic young player and a real credit to the academy.
“He’s starting to develop into a fantastic mover off the ball which is allowing him to show off his finishing ability. He’s still got a lot of work to do with his hold-up play but he’s willing to learn.
“The future’s definitely bright for Tyler as long as he keeps his feet on the ground, which I’m sure he will do.”
Tickets for the game against Nottingham Forest are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and can be bought HERE or by calling 01302 762576.
