Looking Ahead: Sunderland

29 July 2015

The latest from Sunderland ahead of our pre-season friendly with the Premier League outfit tonight.

While Dick Advocaat is busy thanking the Black Cats fans for sending flowers to his wife for allowing him to stay at the Stadium of Light; he has found time to bolster a squad which finished perilously close to the relegation places.

Jermain Defoe is the goalscorer spearheading the attack and the Mackems will rely upon the former England striker to hit double figures and keep the Wearsiders in the mid-table mediocrity that missed for so long last season.

Defoe will be partnered in attack by new signing and (close) namesake Jeremain Lens who has arrived from Dynamo Kiev for £8M having previously played under Advocaat.

The popular Dutchman has tightened up his defensive unit with Seb Coates and Adam Matthews of Uruguayan and Welsh internationals respectively linking up, while Spurs centre back Younes Kaboul has made the transition from White Hart Lane to the north east.

While Lee Cattermole has penned a five year contract extension, Advocaat is under no illusions that he needs at least another four players to arrive for his squad to fully blossom.

Tickets for the game against Sunderland are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and can be bought HERE or by calling 01302 762576.
