NCS summer adventurers meet

13 July 2015

120 participants gather ahead of summer programme.

New National Citizen Service participants got to meet their fellow adventurers for the first time last week ahead of the summer programme as they were invited by the Club Doncaster Foundation to take part in a game of bowling.

Over 120 young people across Doncaster who have already signed up for the spring edition of NCS were in attendance at the bowling event, getting to know and learning more about the people who they are about to share their exciting journey with.

NCS is a youth engagement programme available to all 15-17 year-olds in England during the school holidays, where people build skills for work and life, whilst taking on new challenges and meeting new friends.

Doncaster's NCS participants will travel to the Lake District and get the chance to take part in a series of adrenaline filled activities such as rock climbing, abseiling and raft building, whilst also picking up key life skills through first aid training.

Upon their return, participants also carry out a social action project to help the local community in and around Doncaster.

The Foundation's NCS Project Officer, Jan Budtz said: "NCS is a once in a lifetime opportunity for young people throughout Doncaster where they make friends for life, take part in some amazing activities and conquer their fears.

"Completing the NCS programme looks great on people's CV, not only do they have a great time, but participants also make a real change to the hearts of communities through social action projects, it really is a fantastic experience and one I wish was available when I was younger."

NCS is a nationally recognised project and upon completion graduates receive a certificate signed by Prime Minister David Cameron, on top of an already life changing experience.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up today!

There are still a very limited number of places available on the NCS summer programme, strictly on a first come, first served basis, departing on August 3rd, 10th and 16th.
