Youth Fixtures Announced

13 July 2015

Rovers face Notts County in opener and end with local derby at Rotherham.

After finishing second in the North East Youth Alliance league table last term, U18’s head coach Paul Stancliffe and team as a whole will be looking to go one better and claim the league championship this coming season.

Despite finishing runners up by a total of six points at the end of the 2014/15 season, Doncaster were arguably one of the best teams in the competition but defeats to eventual champions, and Yorkshire rivals, Bradford City eventually caught up with them.

This season’s fixtures have been released and they can get their revenge on the Bantams in their own back yard on the September 12th, but not before facing Notts County at home on the opening day of the season where they will be trying to get off to a solid start.

Doncaster beat County 3-1 at Cantley Park last year after a brace from Matthew Davies and a disastrous own goal was enough to take all three points on a cold and windy morning.

Scunthorpe United and Chesterfield are tough opponents and they will face them in back to back games after the big one at Bradford City.

Oldham Athletic are new additions to the North East league and it will be interesting to see how they handle themselves in a very competitive league.

The youth side are currently in Sweden appearing in the annual pre-season tournament The Gothia Cup.

Head of Youth Development Paul Wilson has promoted six under 16's players and they will be looking to impress in order to try and pave way to a potential starting position once the season is underway.

Rovers wrap up their league campaign on 30th April 2016 against Rotherham United (A) hoping to return to Cantley Park as are league champions.
