Dickov on: Stuckmann

11 June 2015

German a big signing for the club - both literally and metaphorically - according to the gaffer.

Paul Dickov expressed his delight to snap up his first signing of the summer.

In an exclusive interview with Rovers fan Lee Miller, Dickov explained how vital the acquisition of giant German goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann would be.

“His mentality is fantastic, he fits all the criteria and has just been promoted out of the division [with Preston North End] so I’m delighted,” he said.

“I think he’ll be a big influence on everybody, especially the younger lads. Everyone talks about his attitude off the pitch and how he encourages players and he’s the sort of character we need to be looking to bring in.

“Defenders won’t want to argue with him – look at the size of him. I think it’s important for them to communicate and across the back line in particular we want a group of men who are going to organise and we’ve got the first one of them through the door.”

Dickov went on to say that Stuckmann was just the tip of the iceberg in the transfer window.

“We’ve been working hard to get players in, it’s a difficult time at the minute with players been on holiday and agents trying to get as many clubs as possible interested but we’re going to have a good chance with the names we’re in for,” he finished.
