STUCK FOR WORDS

Rovers take Fan Engagement to a new level as supporter Lee Miller announces the new signing for the club.

Today Doncaster Rovers announced the first new signing of the summer Thorsten Stuckmann, but we did it with a truly typical Rovers twist. Frustrated fan Lee Miller was invited to the Keepmoat Stadium not only to interview the new signing and manager Paul Dickov, but to also be the first ever fan in the Football League to officially announce a signing from their own Twitter account.

Marketing and Communications Manager Ryan Murrant said: “Lee has been Tweeting myself and the club every day about "Who are we signing" and "When is Dickov getting the pen out?" Rather than just ignore him as many clubs would do, we decided to get Lee involved today and to let him control our media and to literally answer the questions he’s been asking us!

“Doncaster is unique and we want to do things differently where and when we can and today shows that. It’s very easy to sign a player, hold a scarf up and get the text book “can’t wait to get going” quotes but why not get fans involved? Gavin Baldwin (CEO), the board and the manager understand what this club means to the fans and everyone at the club is encouraged to help create magic moments. The club is world class when it comes to fan engagement and there’s plenty more to come.

“To get Lee involved today was brilliant for him and the club. The Football League and the likes of Henry Winter have already recognised what we have done today and that shows what a unique club this is.”
