The annual summer pitch renovation at the Keepmoat Stadium is well underway ahead of the start of the new football season.

The annual summer pitch renovation at the Keepmoat Stadium is well underway ahead of the start of the new football season.

Today the pitch underwent its first cut since being stripped and re-seeded and is looking in great condition.

Head groundsman Jim Davison is pleased with the progress the pitch has been making over the last few weeks and says everything is on course ahead of the new campaign.

He said: “The new pitch grass cover is three weeks old tomorrow and as far as I am aware we are bang on target for the first pre-season clash on Tuesday 21st July.

“We are now cutting, watering and fertilizing the pitch on a daily basis in order to get it back flat and as smooth as possible for Paul Dickov and his squad.

“I’m pleased with where we are at currently, the weather has not been fantastic, it has been dry and cold and we want more dry and warm days.

“With the forecast though we have no qualms that the pitch will be ready and in prime condition for the beginning of pre-season.”

The first team squad return to the club next week for the start of pre-season training and everything is ready for them to return after an eight-week break.

“The pitches at Cantley Park are looking gorgeous,” said Davison.

“They are in fantastic shape and all ready for the players return next week.”
