Gaffer resolute after Gillingham result and calls for entertainment!
Paul Dickov suggested that it was all still plenty to play for in Doncaster Rovers’ season. The Scot was speaking after a 1-1 draw at Gillingham continued the Yorkshiremen’s promotion aspirations alive.
“The players have been great recently. We had a fantastic performance at Preston and then to come to the form team in the division was a tough one, which we expected, but we’re a little bit disappointed because we know we’re better than that,” he said.
“We’re still there and thereabouts and that’s what we want with eleven games left.
“There are a lot of teams still to take points from each other and as long as we keep picking up points we’ll be okay; I’ve always said that if you don’t win your game, make sure you don’t lose it.”
Dickov’s side will take on Peterborough United at the weekend in a potential six-pointer at the Keepmoat Stadium and will hope for more expression from his side than was shown at the Priestfield Stadium.
“It’s great, it’s what we want. We’ve put ourselves in a great position and it should be a great game against Peterborough,” he said.
“The one thing I want the players to do is express themselves in the right way. Too often the final ball let us down.
“I said to them at half time to just go and play, it didn’t look like they were enjoying it and I wasn’t watching it either!”
