McCullough Happy to be Back

3 March 2015

Northern Ireland defender back in Doncaster's back line and gunning for North End.

Luke McCullough says that Doncaster Rovers will have to be at their best tonight to get a result at promotion chasers Preston North End.

Rovers head to Deepdale for the first time in over two years – with a 7:45pm kick off – and the young defender says he is focused on the task at hand.

“As soon as the [Colchester] game finished, attention turned to the Preston game straightaway,” he said.

“We’ll look to go there and win but they’re a good team that has just won 4-0 so we'll have to be at our best to get a result.

“We're solid at the back, we know we can keep it tight at the back and then go and try to kill teams off.”

McCullough returned to the fold for the first time in over a month having sustained an injury in late January and aided the cause in a comfortable 2-0 win over the lowly U’s.

“There were a lot of good performances and results in my absence, but I’m happy to be back in,” said the Northern Ireland international.

“It’s never nice when you’re injured and you’re not playing. It’s very difficult when you’re sat on the bench as there's not much you can do.

“Jamie [McCombe] and Andy [Butler] worked well together and now me and Andy compliment each other well in what is a good partnership, but its a squad game and everyone will be needed between now and the end of the season.”
