On Monday 18th May Doncaster Rovers will announce the appointment of a Chief Scout which forms part of the Club’s plans to attract the best talent from the first team through to the youth academy.
The Scout’s remit will include attracting talent from local, national and international football.Rovers are in a unique position in comparison to the last two seasons where it is known exactly who owns the Club and what the playing budget is for next season. This means that plans to build a better team is an immediate focus which has commenced already.
First team manager Paul Dickov said: “The role of Chief Scout is essential for us as we look to grow the Club and, primarily, build a better team for next season.
"We had literally hundreds of applications for the role and to get someone in place so soon after the season close is essential to us.
“I totally understand that it is frustrating for supporters that we can’t release names of our targets but we need to remain professional and respect the players and their current Clubs.
"We must also remember that a lot of players are contracted until July 1st, which could limit some communications. I met with four players on Monday, three players today and am meeting four more tomorrow, so the ball is well and truly rolling.
"As soon as we have some solid news of some signings we will be the first to shout about it.”
