Charities Receive Donations from Fans

7 May 2015

Fans help local charities with their fundraising efforts.

Doncaster Rovers, on behalf of the Ray Dunning Scholarship Fund and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, would like to thank supporters for their generous donations at the recent Peterborough United home league game.

Both charities – which are affiliate charities of the football club - gratefully received cheques for £2,500 presented by Rovers stalwart James Coppinger prior to Sunday’s game against Scunthorpe United.

Both Doncaster Rovers and Scunthorpe United fans, players and staff paid tribute to Ray Dunning with a minute’s applause on Sunday to mark the anniversary of his death.

The Ray Dunning Scholarship Fund was established in the aftermath of the untimely passing of supporter Ray Dunning on 3rd May 2014 as Rovers faced Leicester City at the King Power Stadium and aims to help underprivileged children in the area gain access to football.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is a local charity which aims to provide care and support to children with a shortened life expectancy and is proudly endorsed by Louis Tomlinson, Ed Sheeran and former World Cup referee Howard Webb.
