FAMILY CLUB

8 May 2015

Doncaster Rovers have yet again won the Football League Family Excellence Award, an award Clubs' win for their commitment to attracting families.

Rovers are one of only 6 clubs that have secured the award every year since it’s launch 8 years ago and with the Football League proudly saying that the benchmark is getting higher year on year, Rovers can be proud that they are amongst the Football League elite when it comes to offering consistency to family supporters.

Marketing and Communications Manager Ryan Murrant said, “For the Club to win the award again, and to be one of only six Clubs that have won it every year is a credit to those that have started this exciting journey.

"The real stuff starts now though and I, along with my team and everyone else at this Club are ready to take us to the next level.

"We do enough each matchday to get this award but I want to go beyond that and to make this an even better place for families in Doncaster to visit,” he said.

"We do a lot already on match days; we have a very active Donny Dog, players playing against children and families at table tennis, table football and posing for selfies in the family stand.

"The Junior Takeover we did with local school children was second to none. We take first time fans pitch-side to meet the players, give them a scarf and let them sit on the dugout before the game, but these are just the basics that we should be doing anyway.

"The Club aren’t competing with Leeds, Bradford or the Sheffield teams on a Saturday for families to attend, we compete with the bowling alleys, the cinema and places like Nandos! We need to make sure we offer families the best day out in Donny so they come to us, and when they are here we have to make sure we do enough off the pitch to make them want to come back.

"Next year I want this Club to be one of those going beyond the call of duty to encourage families here, and I want the other Clubs and the Football League to continue to say 'look at what they do at Doncaster'. This is the beginning of the next stage of family engagement at Donny and I am really looking forward to it”.
