Foundation Friday - Tour of France a great experience for Foundation students.

Seventeen students from the Club Doncaster Foundation last weekend headed across the English Channel to France on tour.

Students studying with the Foundation, who play for the Football Academy were rewarded for their hard work with a trip to Lille.

Over the weekend the Foundation Academy played two games against AMS Lensoise FC with the Foundation winning an impressive 11-1 and then Lamvbersart FC in a 3-3 thriller.

The trip also created new links between the Foundation and the clubs in France.

Speaking about the weekend, Education Officer Ben Thompson said: “The tour was a fantastic experience for both students and staff.

“The way in which the students conducted themselves was a credit to the Foundation and we hope that this is the first of many tours that we can run in the future.”

The Club Doncaster Foundation have a variety of courses available, giving students a pathway to university and full time job roles.

Students not only get the opportunity to study, but also get chance to be part of the Football and Rugby Academies, getting the opportunity to represent Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster RLFC.

Teaming up with both Rovers and the Dons, the training and playing programme runs alongside the learners academic qualifications, with additional training up to 10 hours each week on top of full-time study.

For those with a passion for football and rugby league the opportunity to play the sport and who want a pathway to University, there is no better place to study than with the Club Doncaster Foundation.

The Education Foundation oversaw 170 learners through a range of nationally recognised qualifications in 2014 alone with a 98% pass rate, and has picked up prestigious awards for excellence in education.
