New loan signing praises Rovers gaffer after crossing South Yorkshire on loan.Craig Alcock has hailed the influence of Darren Ferguson after signing on loan for 28 days from South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.
Twenty-seven year old Alcock was signed by the Scot for Peterborough United and follows his former gaffer to Keepmoat Stadium.
“Obviously I know the gaffer from being at Peterborough and I’m just delighted that it’s done,” he said in an official website exclusive.
“I know the gaffer and the way he works and that was a big appeal to me. That side of it was easy because I know what I’m coming in to. I’ve trained today and they seem a good bunch of lads so I’m excited.
“With the situation being as it and cover needed in defence, I’m hoping that I can provide that and we can kick on.
“We’ll see how it goes, but hopefully I can come here and do well and help us improve which is the main thing.”
Alcock’s last appearance for the Blades actually came against Rovers in a 3-1 win for the hosts at Bramall Lane where he was forced off through injury but has declared himself fit and available for Saturday’s trip to Blackpool.
“I was unfortunate in the last game that I played I got injured and I’ve only literally just got back from that so its been a case of getting out and getting some games and I’ve been fortunate enough that I’ve been able to come here and its something I’m delighted about,” he said.
“Hopefully I can fit in any system (a back three or a back four), that is the main aim. All being well I’m looking forward to Saturday and looking to go out there and get the win.
“I love it up here to be fair. The people around here have been great, they’ve been friendly and its made it easy to settle down in both cases – even on today which is my first day – and it’s been good and I’ve continued up north throughout my career!”
Craig’s home debut could be against Rochdale on Saturday 21st November 2015 (3pm). Tickets can be bought ONLINE HERE or via 01302 762576.
