Over 100 schools pupils attend tournament. The Club Doncaster Foundation hosted the Football League Trust Girls Cup on Wednesday and the event turned out to be a huge success with over 100 Year 7 and 8 girls in attendance.
The event that is linked with the Foundation’s Female Football Development Programme (FFD) encourages young girls to participate in football and provide a pathway for them to play at a local level.
The schools involved have strongly engaged with the event and the eventual winners by penalty shootout were Hayfield School.
Steve Hernandez, FFD project leader stated: “It was outstanding to see such a good turn out and really shows how strong our partnerships are with local schools along with a real appetite to develop girls football.
“The event ran really smoothly and I would like to thank the schools for taking the time to come to the Keepmoat Stadium in the cold weather!”
