Club Doncaster can today officially announce plans to rename and rebrand the Keepmoat Stadium Soccer Centre.Work has been underway over the past two weeks to lay a brand new full size 3G astroturf pitch at the Facility, that will henceforth be known as the ‘Club Doncaster Academy’, with an official launch tournament planned for later this month.
In addition to the new name and 3G pitch there are plans to root the Facility firmly within the Doncaster community, with the supporter and fan led renaming of our eight ‘6-a-side’ pitches.
Jon Warburton, Senior Commercial Sales Executive, said: “We are extremely proud of the grassroots sports provision that has come out of the Keepmoat Stadium Soccer Centre over the last nine years.
“The new ‘Club Doncaster Academy’ name gives credit to the facility as a breeding ground for future talent in the area, whether that is in football, rugby or any other sporting activity carried out here.
“The new 3G astroturf will make a huge difference to all users of the Facility and is just the first of many exciting things we have planned.”
To further engage with local communities, Club Doncaster will rename the Facility’s eight ‘6-a-side’ pitches after the surrounding villages throughout Doncaster, with a fans vote making the ultimate decisions.
So whether you come from Bentley or Balby, Edlington or Edenthorpe, we want you to have your say on Doncaster’s friendliest ever #turfwar.
Voting will be through Facebook and Twitter, in person at the Club Doncaster Academy or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with the village you want to vote for in the subject line.
The launch tournament will be ‘7-a-side’ with round robin and knock out stages and take place on Friday, November 27th on the brand new 3G astroturf.
Entry will cost £50 per team with a maximum squad of 10 players, with a range of great prizes including a hospitality box for the Doncaster Rovers vs.Crewe fixture for the winning team.
