The latest from a number of media outlets.
A brief round up of recent reports focussing on Rovers and their 2-0 win over Colchester United at the weekend.DAILY MAIL – “Darren Ferguson, watched by his dad Sir Alex Ferguson, chalked up his first home victory and first clean sheet as Doncaster manager with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Colchester. Conor Grant and Andy Williams were the names on the scoresheet.”
YORKSHIRE POST – “MANAGER Darren Ferguson’s first home game in charge of Doncaster Rovers ended in victory with Everton loanee Conor Grant scoring on his debut.
Striker Andy Williams got the second after the break as Rovers got an important win after two defeats on the road and were rewarded for a purposeful second-half performance.”
GREEN ‘UN – “Rovers doubled their lead in the 65th minute, via a swift breakaway goal.
The U’s defence was left exposed, ironically from their own corner, and Coppinger scurried down the right flank before unselfishly squaring for an unmarked Williams to steer home from 10 yards out.”
POPULAR STAND – “…Anyone expecting a Halloween horror show was sorely disappointed. Rovers didn’t miss a trick and duly gave the fans a treat.”
And how we reported it… “Despite Colchester being the slightly better team, Rovers took the lead shortly before half time with a stunning goal from Conor Grant on his debut.
The Everton loanee received the ball twenty yards out and, finding space to shoot opened up his body before beautifully curling the ball into the top corner leaving Jamie Jones with no chance.”
