Paper Talk

10 November 2015

Find out who hit the headlines - and why - at the weekend.

YORKSHIRE POST – “Doncaster Rovers secured their place in tonight’s FA Cup second round draw, but only after some harsh words from manager Darren Ferguson.
Andy Williams gave Rovers the lead after three minutes but they laboured against non-league opposition at the Keepmoat.
Rovers improved after the break though, and Williams added a second to make sure their name is in the hat tonight.”

DONCASTER FREE PRESS – “James Coppinger surpassed Colin Douglas’ record of all-time appearances for the club - an achievement that cannot be overstated in the modern era of football.”

LIVERPOOL ECHO - “New Everton man Felipe Mattioni made his English football debut on Saturday, playing the full 90 minutes in Doncaster Rovers’ FA Cup win over Stalybridge Celtic.
The full back joined the Blues on a free transfer in October and joined the League One club on loan a day after.
He celebrated his first appearance for Rovers with a clean sheet at right back, as Darren Ferguson’s side advanced into the second round.”

And how we reported it… “James Coppinger was the main talking point ahead of this first round FA Cup fixture as he made his 469th appearance for the club, breaking the club’s post-war record.”
