Saturday 14th November 2015 (3pm), Bloomfield Road, Sky Bet League One.
Rovers head to the west coast looking to propel themselves away from the League One drop zone and put some daylight between themselves and their opponents, Blackpool, when the pair meet at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.Darren Ferguson’s side will hope to take their recent home record of two wins without conceding on their travels after last month’s 4-0 and 2-0 losses at Peterborough and Millwall; the only blots on his copybook to date.
It has been an amazing slide for the Tangerines – whom Rovers have not faced on the Fylde coast for close to two years – that they could find themselves in the basement division less than five years after relegation from the Premier League.
The pair last met in the Championship in January 2014 when Billy Sharp – in his third stint with Doncaster – struck late on to cancel out Andy Halliday’s opener and salvage a precious, yet ultimately fruitless, point.
It’s six and a half years since Doncaster tasted victory – for the only time in their history – at Blackpool as Sean O’Driscoll’s side recovered from a goal down to win 3-2 and continue their recovery away from the second tier drop zone.
TEAM NEWS: Luke McCullough is on international duty with Northern Ireland’s U21s while Richard Chaplow, Paul Keegan, Rob Jones and Gary MacKenzie remain sidelined. Felipe Mattioni and Craig Alcock could make their league debuts for Rovers.
