Rovers stalwarts could join elite band of players this Saturday.
Doncaster Rovers club legends James Coppinger and Richie Wellens stand on the verge of creating yet more history in the red and white hoops when the pair face struggling Blackpool on Saturday.
Captain Coppinger recently surpassed the all-time club appearance record of 468 games for Rovers and, should he net against the Tangerines, will register his 50th goal for Doncaster – nearly a decade on from his first strike, in a 2-0 home win over Bristol City at Belle Vue.
While Wellens, who was at Bloomfield Road for five seasons earlier in his career, could yet make his 200th appearance for Doncaster in what is his second spell in South Yorkshire.
Coppinger and Wellens who were part of the Rovers side which won the League One play offs against Leeds United in 2008 were first paired together on the opening game of that very campaign in a 0-0 draw at home to Millwall.
Rovers would like to congratulate the pair on their ongoing feats.
