Staff from Lakeside Village and players from Doncaster Rovers are sporting Pink this month for Breast Cancer awareness month.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and all funds raised throughout the month mean Breast Cancer Care can provide its specialist nurses, local services and vital emotional support network for free to those who need it.Cheryl Sadler, centre manager at Lakeside Village said: “We are proud to be sporting pink this October and we were delighted that Curtis Main and Mitchell Lund joined us by adding touches of pink to their normal kit to help to promote this fundraising month.
“We will be fundraising throughout October for Breast Cancer Care and we are sure that our loyal customers will join us in donating to this important cause.”
The centre will be turning pink on October 16 as part of Big Pink day when staff across the stores will be wearing pink to work.
“I’m sure there will be all sorts of fun fundraising activities going on at the centre on October 16 and we are really looking forward to raising as much money as we can.”
The facts around breast cancer are staggering with nearly 55,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year, that’s the equivalent of one person every 10 minutes.
Breast cancer is the second most common cause of death from cancer in women in the UK. Breast cancer also affects men, but it’s rare – around 400 men are diagnosed each year.
