Ferguson on Grant Loan

29 October 2015

Gaffer sought thoughts of Premier League manager in bid to aid youngster's development.

Darren Ferguson revealed that he and Everton manager Roberto Martinez had agreed that the loan switch of Conor Grant would be beneficial to all parties.

Grant arrived today on an initial one month loan, much to the delight of the Rovers boss.

“He’s a player I know well,” said Ferguson.

“We’ve had discussions with Roberto Martinez and we thought it’d be a good move for the boy.

“He was at Motherwell last year and has a good left foot and is a good size and will understand quickly how we want to play.”

Grant – who admitted that he wanted to emulate former Everton teammate John Lundstram in finding success at Keepmoat Stadium – received a glowing reference from Ferguson, who presided over his first training session today.

“I’ve met him this morning and like him and he’s personality and he’s ready to go,” Ferguson enthused.

“He’s more of a central midfielder, whose good on the ball.

“He’s composed and will bring balance to the side.

“We’ll have a look at him and so it’s best just to do a month and see how he goes.”

See Conor in action when Rovers host Colchester United on Saturday (3pm). Tickets can be bought ONLINE HERE or by calling 01302 762576.
