Ferguson Pre-Peterborough

22 October 2015

Gaffer looks ahead to London Road return.

Darren Ferguson has said that he is looking to boost confidence levels with a win at former club Peterborough United on Saturday.

Rovers recorded their first away win in six months on Tuesday night with victory over Shrewsbury Town and have an opportunity to double that tally within four days.

“Saturday is a really important game. If you can go and get back to back wins it enhances the confidence,” stressed Ferguson.

“Like anything else, you need consistent results, consistent performances and being consistent in good habits e.g. late goals.

“It’s one game I’ve had with them though and we've got a good win and it was an important win because it does bring a lot of a positive feel with it but no one is getting carried away.”

The Scot – who admitted he is “hopeful of a good reception” from the London Road faithful – was very matter of fact in his ambitions for Doncaster though, as they look to scale the League One table.

“It will be nice to go back,” said Ferguson.

“I haven’t had much time to think about it to be honest as I’m organising the team.

“They (Peterborough) are scoring and conceding a lot of goals - I remember that from my time there - so they look an entertaining team but we'll have to be disciplined to a degree against them.

“I know quite a few of the players. Hopefully I get a good reception but that’s not going to be my main priority. My main priority is to go back and get three points.

“I always go in to games respectful of the opposition and Saturday will be no different, it’s not about me, it’s about us and Doncaster getting three points and it’s as simple as that.”
