Foundation Friday – NCS at its Peak!

30 October 2015

Over the last 2 weeks 75 students from Club Doncaster Sports College embarked upon their journey of a course residential in the form of NCS (National Citizen Service).

The year 2015 has seen over 600 young people from a variety of schools and backgrounds across Doncaster take part in this fantastic programme.

Participants visited YHA Edale in the Peak District, taking part in a series of fun-fuelled and exciting challenges before returning to Doncaster to carry out social action projects to help people in the local community.

As part of the NCS programme, the participants are challenged to plan and deliver a social action project that can make a difference in the local community of Doncaster. With a recent partnership developed between Club Doncaster Sports College and Doncaster ARFLC based in Toll Bar, the young people decided they wanted to volunteer at this amateur rugby league club as part of their social action.

Wayne Morton, Doncaster ARFLC representative expressed his delight with the work the young people had taken on; “Can I take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all who attend the Toll Bar club today. You did your club very proud and what a difference you all made.”

Look out for us in your school after Christmas to promote our spring and summer programmes!
