Club Doncaster Sports College aiming to help aspiring swimmer on the road to the States.
Club Doncaster Sports College's very own Georgia Wright was selected to represent the North East division of ESSA (English schools swimming association) at John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds on 3/4th October 2015.Georgia was selected to compete in 800m freestyle and 200m backstroke; admittedly, the 800m is not Georgia's favourite event and her coach felt it would be a good opportunity for development rather than a medal. Out of nowhere, Georgia’s performance exceeded everyone's expectation, seeing her shave a full 3 seconds off her PB and achieving a silver medal.
Georgia’s 200m backstroke was another great swim, unfortunately no medal this time, but a full 6 seconds taken off her PB, just 0.5 seconds away from another short course national qualifying time.
The weekend was a roaring success and the North Eastern division won the trophy which was fantastic.
Alongside her BTEC Level 3 Sport studies, Georgia has a goal to qualify for the Glasgow Olympic trials later on in the year. Her sporting and academic achievements are testament to Georgia's strong work ethic and ambition to forge a career in the thriving sports sector. A second year at Club Doncaster Sports College, Georgia is looking to pursue a swimming scholarship to study in the USA from August 2016.
Georgia added: “Choosing Club Doncaster Sports College has allowed me to juggle my studies and training schedule so I can achieve my dream of studying in America. The education team know my plans for 2016 and they are helping me get the UCAS points I need to follow my dream in the US.”
