Strachan In as Number Two

16 October 2015

New assistant manager appointed.

Gavin Strachan has been appointed as assistant manager to new Doncaster Rovers first team manager Darren Ferguson.

The 36 year old has vacated his position of manager of Evo-Stik Premier Division side Ilkeston FC to make the transition as Ferguson’s number two at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Strachan, who came through the ranks of Coventry City, is a former central midfielder who also had notable spells with Peterborough United, Hartlepool United and Notts County.

“I initially played under Darren at Peterborough and then I worked my way up to first team coach under him,” said Strachan.

“I like how he works, I’ve learnt so much from him and hopefully the players here will benefit from his style of play.

“The opportunity to work with Darren again at such a good club was such an easy decision.”

Strachan and new manager Ferguson will be unveiled in front of the Keepmoat Stadium faithful on Saturday when Rovers host Bradford City.
