Foundation Friday: NCS helping D.R.I.

Fifteen young people taking part in NCS Doncaster with the Club Doncaster Foundation have raised an incredible amount of money as part of their social action project for Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Fifteen young people taking part in NCS Doncaster with the Club Doncaster Foundation have raised an incredible amount of money as part of their social action project for Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

A fantastic total of £1282 has been raised for the Children’s Ward, after the NCS participants carried out bag packing at Tesco in Balby for three days.

The fundraising for the hospital has been used to buy DVD’s, DVD players, soft toys and games, along with art and craft supplies, aimed to improve the experience for children in the hospital.

The gifts bought through the money raised were presented by the young people participating in NCS, to the hospital staff in the picture above.

This marks another brilliant social action project completed by Doncaster’s NCS this year to help the local community.

Speaking about the social action project, community officer Jan Budtz said: ”Here at Club Doncaster we are staggered with what these 15 young people have been able to achieve.

”Since we have been running NCS Doncaster through the Club Doncaster Foundation we have seen some incredible social action projects, but this summer has been extra special.

”For these young people to have raised a four figure sum, to help Doncaster Royal Infirmary is an incredible feat, they are a credit to the local community and Doncaster as a whole.

”Being in hospital is not always a nice experience, however we hope that through the money donated by these NCS participants to buy many gifts, that this experience can be a little bit better in the future.”

NCS is available to all 15-17 year olds and is a nationally recognised project and upon completion graduates receive a certificate signed by Prime Minister David Cameron, on top of an already life changing experience.

All participants go on a residential outing taking part in a series of adrenaline filled activities, before returning to Doncaster to complete a social action project to help the local community.

The next edition of NCS takes place during October half term and there are places available to take part in this once in a lifetime experience.
