Foundation Friday: Record breaking year gets underway

18 September 2015

Foundation has expanded to accommodate 140 students!

A record breaking year has got underway this week at the Club Doncaster Foundation, with 140 new students studying the variety of courses the education department offers.

Since its launch in 2008, the Foundation has come a long way in seven years, expanding from its original 16 students by picking up numerous accolades and cementing its place as one of the best Education hubs in Yorkshire.

This week has been the induction week for all of the new students, who get to represent Doncaster Rovers in the Foundation Football Academy alongside the brand new Foundation Rugby Academy where students represent Doncaster Rugby League, alongside their full-time studies.

The past week has been extremely exciting for the students, with a host of team building activities taking place, alongside coaching sessions and player visits from the likes of Rovers stars Richard Chaplow, Andy Butler and Thorsten Stuckmann, alongside Dons duo Matt Groat and Mitch Clark.

It will also get even better for the new students studying next month, with the Foundation set to move into a brand new education centre within the Keepmoat Stadium in October, offering even better facilities than the exceptional ones already available.

Speaking about the progress of the Foundation, Principal Jenna Scully said: "It has been a fun filled week for all of our new students and it has been great to meet them all and get them all settled in ahead of the new academic year.

"Over the years we have some fantastic stories from former students who have gone on to progress into full time jobs and on to University from the Foundation.

"The hard work starts for everyone next week, we had a record number of graduates last year and it is important that we achieve the same quality of pass rates as the number of students increase.

"I'd like to wish everyone the best of luck for the New Year and hope you all enjoy studying with us."
