Tuesday 1st September 2015 (7:45pm), Johnstone's Paint Trophy R1, Keepmoat Stadium.Attentions turn to cup competitions once again when Burton Albion visit in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round.
The pair met in the competition last season at the Pirelli Stadium with Paul Dickov’s side running out comfortable 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Harry Forrester, Nathan Tyson and Richie Wellens.
Since then though the Brewers – under the guidance of former Leeds United and Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – have gained promotion after winning the League 2 title and are competing in the third tier for the first time in their 65 year history.
Rovers have history on their side though having won all three previous encounters against Albion – doing the double during the 02/03 Conference season and the aforementioned Football League Trophy tie.
It’s also only 9 seasons since Doncaster lifted the cup – their first national trophy – in front of close to 60,000 people at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.
TEAM NEWS: Harry Forrester, Luke McCullough and Nathan Tyson will miss out through injury. Run outs may be given to fringe players.
