In order to the communication between supporters and stewards on a matchday, Supporter Liaison Officers (SLOs) are also in attendance as they act as the first point of contact for supporters.
On a matchday, SLOs attend pre match briefings with safety and stewarding team in order to enhance the working relationship for all parties and there is full two-way communication during the game should any issues arise – from crowd safety to fan enquiries.
Due to the strong relationship between stewards, SLOs and supporters, Doncaster Rovers anticipate a high number of ‘police-free’ games, thus making a significant saving on police costs.
