Was that unforgettable day at Brentford your most memorable day as a Doncaster Rovers fan?

Was Rovers win at Brentford in 2013 the best finish to a season ever? We think so!

In conjunction with our #ForeverRovers season ticket campaign, over the past few months fans have been asked to share their favourite Rovers memories and tell us why they are #ForeverRovers.

As we continue our trip down memory lane, with it being three years to the day it is only right that today we take you back to THAT unforgettable day at Brentford and what THAT goal from James Coppinger meant for the club.

As the season came to a close, Rovers travelled to Griffin Park needing just a point to secure promotion to the Championship, whereas Brentford needed a win for promotion. The season was supposed to be decided in those final 90 minutes between Rovers and Brentford, however it turned out to be decided in just 18 seconds of final day drama.

With the game looking to finish 0-0, Rovers looked good for promotion until the referee awarded Brentford a penalty in the 94th minute. Marcello Trotta stepped up looking to seal Brentford a place in the Championship, but against all odds his spot kick crashed against the cross bar!

When Rovers finally managed to clear the ball Billy Paynter found himself in acres of space running half the length of the pitch. Squaring the ball for Rovers legend and current captain James Coppinger, he turned the ball in the the empty net with Rovers fans and players going from “agony to ecstasy” in a staggering 18 seconds!

The win not only secured promotion for Rovers but also the League One title.
