Defender Luke McCullough believes Doncaster Rovers can still beat the drop this term ahead of Saturday’s huge clash with Wigan Athletic.
The League One leaders make the trip to the Keepmoat Stadium from Lancashire, with 15 points still to play for before the season comes to a close.
The Northern Ireland international believes a win against the table toppers could spark Rovers into life.
“It’s an horrendous run and everyone knows that, but we have been trying to do the right things in training everyday,” McCullough said.
“We come in and work hard and hope and believe that we can put it right even though there are only five games left.
“The run has been a bit of a shock to everyone, nobody expected it to happen, but we are here now and we have to keep going.
“We do still believe going into games that we can win them and over the past few games I think we have deserved to get something from them.
“Saturday is a massive game and if we can win that it has to give us belief that we can go on and win the rest of our games because Wigan are up there in the league.
“We definitely believe we can do it, performances recently have given us confidence, even though we haven’t got the results.
“We will try and win on Saturday, we have nothing to lose really and we have to go out and try to win the game and hopefully that can lead to more wins.
“No player wants to be relegated or wants to be losing games.
“Unfortunately that is the way it is going at the moment but it is up to us to put it right.”
