PREVIEW: Chesterfield v Rovers

19 April 2016

Doncaster Rovers make the short trip to Chesterfield looking for back to back victories in League One.

Rovers head to South Yorkshire, making only the second ever trip to the Proact Stadium, looking to close the gap on the Spireites to five points.

Darren Ferguson's side are currently six points from safety with 12 points to play for, Danny Wilson's Chesterfield occupy 17th place in the table, currently four points and places above the drop zone.

Chesterfield have won two of their last three games in League One, however suffered a heavy 3-0 home defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday, with former Rovers striker Billy Sharp getting on the score-sheet.

Rovers manager Ferguson will be hoping his side can back up Saturday's victory against Wigan, with another win at the Proact Stadium.

The sides last met back in November when Andy Williams, Nathan Tyson and Cameron Stewart gave Rovers a comfortable 3-0 victory at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Last time at the Proact Stadium, goals from Andy Butler and James Coppinger ensured Rovers raced into a 2-0 lead inside ten minutes, however the hosts fought back through second half strikes from Eoin Doyle and Jimmy Ryan to grab a point.

Rovers are unbeaten against Chesterfield in all competitions since 2005, winning five of the last eight meetings.
