PREVIEW: DRFC v Sky Blues

22 April 2016

Saturday 23rd April 2016 (3pm), Sky Bet League One, Keepmoat Stadium.

Doncaster Rovers go in to this weekend’s fixture against Coventry City with everything to play for. If results go for the South Yorkshire side, they could close the gap on the teams above to just two points with two games to play.

Conversely, if results go against Rovers, they could find themselves eight points adrift with only a couple of games remaining.

A repeat of last Saturday’s shock 3-1 win over league leaders Wigan though would throw the battle to stay in League One wide open as the season nears its climax.

Darren Ferguson’s men – having defeated the Latics to record their first win in 18 games – come in to the game against the mid-table Sky Blues fresh from a 1-1 draw against local rivals Chesterfield which inched them closer to potential safety.

Rovers met City at the Ricoh Arena in November while on a run that saw them reach the third round of the FA Cup and take 13 points from 18 available in the league.

On that particular occasion, despite falling behind twice to first Adam Armstrong and then John Fleck, Nathan Tyson responded both times and was unlucky not to bag a hat-trick and with it three points when he rattled the bar in the last minute.

Rovers, who did the double over Cov last season, have an impeccable home record against the 1987 FA Cup winners and have only ever lost once (in 2012).

TEAM NEWS: Rovers have no fresh injury concerns.
