Marko’s Rovers Return

24 August 2016

Youngster on keeping confidence high.

Marko Marosi said he didn’t come back to Doncaster Rovers to sit on the substitute’s bench.

The Slovakian stopper seemed destined for the Keepmoat Stadium exit door in the summer but, having signed a new one year deal, has returned to the fold and followed up his first ever clean sheet against Cambridge United, with another versus Cheltenham Town as Rovers recorded back to back 1-0 wins.

“I didn’t want to be here just to make up the numbers; I think I’ve matured a lot from last season,” said the 22-year-old.

“There’s more quality and more confidence. I came back wanting to play.

“I didn’t come back to sit on the bench so I’ve been trying my best to show the gaffer that I can do it and he’s kept faith in me.

“The confidence will come with playing games, hopefully I’ve done enough to stay in the team and if I have then I’ll carry on trying my best.”

With Rovers having gained six points from their last two games – having only gained one point in their opening two fixtures – Marosi said Rovers have confidence.

“Three points and a clean sheet was massive for us, we played a physical team and it was a great win for us,” he said of the Robins victory.

“Everyone is happy, we’re playing as a team and that’s the key. We’re performing; the lads are working incredibly hard on the pitch.

“We help each other and look after each other. If they make a mistake I’m there to make a save and if I make a mistake, they’re there to pick me up so they’ve been brilliant.”

Rovers welcome Yeovil Town to Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.
