New Comms Appointments

17 August 2016

Club Doncaster can announce Luke Thornhill and Mark Hughesman as our newly-appointed Media and Marketing Managers.

Mark is no stranger to Doncaster Rovers, having been the club’s Supporter Liaison Officer for 18 months before joining the Marketing team on a permanent basis in 2015. Mark was instrumental in Doncaster Rovers winning League One Family Club of the Year last season and is very familiar with Fan Engagement practice, in particular ‘In Rovers We Trust’ which he will continue to drive in partnership with the supporter groups and the official supporters board. Mark’s previous experience also includes stints at Doncaster College and Burnley FC, where he worked closely with Neil Doncaster who is now Chief Executive of the Scottish Premiership.

Luke joins Doncaster Rovers as Media Manager from the Press Association, where he was Deputy Editor for Racing Plus newspaper and worked on a wide range of national newspapers such as  the  Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, Daily Star, People and the Mail on Sunday.  Luke’s background also includes a spell as assistant sports editor of The National newspaper, based in Abu Dhabi, which had a focus on international sport.

We would also like to wish Abi Rodwell the best of luck who moves on to pastures new as she joins the English Football League as Content Manager.
Chief Operating Officer Liam Scully said: “Luke and Mark both came through a thorough recruitment process as the outstanding candidates. It was pleasing to see the significant interest the roles attracted, both locally and nationally, with the key factor to their appointments being a clear respect and comprehension for our history and long established culture, but also the experience, skills and commitment to raising and maintaining the highest possible standards with the resources available.

“All at Doncaster Rovers are looking forward to working with Luke and Mark over the coming years. With this we should rightfully recognise the contributions of Abi Rodwell who has joined the EFL. Abi was a great servant for Doncaster Rovers and we naturally offer her our best wishes as she joins the EFL team at their Preston headquarters."
