Fans Key Factor

10 February 2016

Defender Andy Butler keen for Keepmoat to be rocking again for Blades clash.

“The fans,” was the answer given by Andy Butler when asked about the most important factor ahead of Saturday’s South Yorkshire derby with Sheffield United.

Butler is poised to return to action after a brief stint on the sidelines and, as much as he has enjoyed the Keepmoat Stadium atmosphere, wants to be back on the pitch.

“I'm feeling fine – one hundred percent – there’s nothing wrong with me at all, I can’t wait to get going again,” he said.

“It’s the first games I’ve missed if I think about it. No one likes to miss games, its hard watching from the sidelines because I enjoy playing and want to play as much as I can.

“My knee jarred in the game against Gillingham and my groin pulled a little bit so I had to take a couple of weeks off but I’m fighting fit now and raring to go.”

Butler called on the fans to do their bit and, having endured three months at Bramall Lane prior to joining Rovers, rebuffed the notion that a game against the Blades meant more to him than others.

“The fans are massively important, people have seen how much of an effect they have had - look at Stoke at home,” Butler asserted.

“The fans helped that day so much - they didn’t stop singing - and we'll need that again in a derby atmosphere because it really does help.

“Most people think that it adds a bit more spice me coming up against my old team but I barely even played for them!

“It’s just another game for me and I can’t wait to get back playing in a Rovers shirt again.”
