Gaffer won't settle for second best. This Wednesday sees the deadline for supporters who buy their 2016/17 #ForeverRovers Season Tickets to win £1,879. Anyone that renews or buys before 5pm on the 17th February will go into a draw (to take place when we play Millwall on the 27th) where four lucky winners will walk away with a cash prize.
Manager Darren Ferguson said: “This club really engages with the fans in everything that we do. It is important. We had 100 young children here on Tuesday who we helped coach, fans on the pitch taking penalties on Friday and these great incentives to rewarding fans that commit to next season early. Other clubs could learn a lot from what we do here."
“We had a bad day at the office yesterday and now is the time for us all to learn who wants to be in that dressing next season. Yesterday was the first time I have ever publicly criticised my players and I don't want to ever have to do that again. We have sixteen games left. It’s not impossible, but it’s unlikely that we will go up, and it is unlikely we will go down so we know what we are working towards.
“I demand that every player that pulls on the Rovers shirt will put in a shift for the team and for the supporters. Moving into next season I will have a Rovers team, my team, and our aim and what we are working towards are those playoff places. That is where this club should be and I want my players to get us there.
“The support we have had this season since I arrived has been magnificent. Against Gillingham it carried us through and without doubt helped us gain a point, and that could’ve been three! When I arrived I promised a better brand of football, we aren’t there yet, but working towards next season we know we will be better equipped to try and achieve what we desire. That is what we all want and I aim to put together a squad that should enable us to do that.
“The supporters are vitally important to any club, but here we are on the verge of something special. I believe the fans are ready to go on a journey, and together next season I am sure it will be a very, very exciting one."
