Super fan 'Holden' out for Championship return under Darren Ferguson.

Loyal supporter Mark Holden will celebrate 55 years of watching Doncaster Rovers on Saturday when Rovers host Millwall.

www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk spoke to Mark about how he’s gone from idolising players at Belle Vue to a word of advice for the current first team players.

“When I first went I was 12 years old and living in Intake so would walk over the Racecourse and in to the ground – my first game was as a birthday present from my dad,” said passionate Mark.

“I remember going down to Belle Vue and clearing off the snow one time so we could have a game of football.

“I’ve got pictures of the old Belle Vue and keep them safe so I can show fans who never went.”

Despite seeing hundreds of players down the years, one player and one haircut in particular stands out for the 67 year old.

“I’ve had a few favourite players over the years, the one I liked in particular was the “Afro Goal Machine” Jason Price, he was a good player,” he enthused.

“For now though, the club need to get used to (Darren) Ferguson’s plans and that includes the fans.

“I think we’ll be back in the Championship if the club sticks with him, I think we’ll go back up.

“They’ve got to get it in to their heads that we’re not frightened of any team, it’s the only way.

“I take my wife now and sit at the Black Bank, there’s some noise in there now! They’re making noise and boosting the team now, we’ve got the faith in Ferguson.”
