Latest Rovers recruit explains that the switch across South Yorkshire was an easy one to make.
Craig Alcock could not hide his delight at completing his transfer to Doncaster Rovers from Sheffield United. The reliable defender had slotted in seamlessly whilst on loan from the Blades and will look to carry on his – and the team’s – current form having penned a two and a half year deal.
“It was nice to come in on loan and get a feel for the place, it really felt good and it made the decision to sign on a permanent really easy,” he said.
“Now I can focus purely on Doncaster and do as well as we can – starting on Saturday in the Cup – and pushing up the league.
“We’ve got a good thing going at the minute as a team and as a squad.
“We’ve got a great team spirit and I think everyone has bought in to what the gaffer has tried to instil and thankfully it’s paid off with a few good results.”
Alcock, who has made ten Rovers appearances to date, revealed that he was keen to push through the deal in time to make the squad for Saturday’s huge FA Cup tie against Premier League Stoke City at Keepmoat Stadium.
“I was delighted (to get Stoke), which is why I’m happy to be in on a permanent basis before the game so I can play in that, if selected,” he admitted.
“We’re looking forward to it, it’s a massive game which will hopefully be a near sell out and hopefully we can put on a performance that does ourselves justice and we can entertain the fans.
“Any footballer worth his salt want to enjoy what he’s doing and thankfully I’ve done that since I’ve been here and hopefully that will continue.”
“We’ve got some really good youngsters coming through and if I can help them in any way then that’s a bonus for them and myself.”
